AFPA President Message by Dr Andi Tanra (2024–2026)

Dear Esteemed Colleagues and Friends,
It is with great humility and gratitude that I accept the honor of being elected as President of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations (AFPA) for the 2024–2026 term.
I would like to sincerely thank you for the trust and confidence placed in me to carry out this important responsibility. I am committed to advancing the mission of AFPA and to strengthening our collective efforts in the field of mental health across Asia and beyond.
As part of the strategic agenda during my tenure, we are pleased to announce that the South-East Asia AFPA Regional Conference will be held from May 1st to 3rd, 2026, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
This important event will involve participation from the ten ASEAN countries as well as other nations across Asia, including Australia and New Zealand.
The primary objective of this conference is to enhance the visibility and impact of AFPA’s initiatives in the Southeast Asian region, particularly in addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital mental health era.
We earnestly seek your support, collaboration, and active participation in this endeavor, which we believe will significantly contribute to regional cooperation and mental health development.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
We look forward to welcoming you in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from May 1st to 3rd, 2026.
With highest regards,
Andi Jayalangkara Tanra
President, Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations (AFPA) 2024–2026
